Paper Smooches SPARKS - Picture Perfect Challenge - Hello Friend

I'm popping on here quickly to share a card I made a few nights ago to enter into the Paper Smooches SPARKS Picture Perfect Challenge (I haven't entered this one in a while!)

 

The challenge this week was a picture perfect challenge, so the idea was to make a card inspired by the following picture:

 

 

 

I was obviously inspired by the flowers and the colors - and the fact that this was the perfect opportunity for me to use the Friendly Flowers stamp set - an old set that is new to me and that I had not yet inked up. I stamped a woodgrain background onto craft paper for the bottom layer of the card and did a bunch of stamping and coloring for the main layer, with a little bit of paper piecing thrown in. Here's my card:

Lawnscaping Challenge #88 - Texture - Happy Birthday!

I'm back with an entry into the current Lawnscaping Challenge - Texture!

The idea is to use some kind of texture on your card. I decided to do this by making the clouds in the background textured - I used flock (which you add after heat embossing while the ink is still hot) to make the clouds fuzzy to the touch. I also added some texture to the grass by using a die punch and crinkling the top of the grass so it would stick out from the card a bit. The last bit of texture I did was a dot of glossy black enamel onto the dog's nose.

I made this card for my niece's 7th birthday.

Lawnscaping Challenge #86 - Watercoloring - The Sky's The Limit

Hi there! I'm popping back to my blog to enter another Lawnscaping Challenge - Watercoloring.

 

 

 

This is going to be a super quick post so that I can get to bed - leaving tomorrow to teach flute camp in the Poconos and still have to finish packing. But, since the challenge ends while I'll be away, I've got to take a few minutes to upload my entry now :)

I focused on using just one set from Lawn Fawn - Blue Skies. I heat embossed the images in white onto watercolor paper and then colored everything with Tombow markers (colors 443, 925, 725, 173 and 685) which I watered down with a watercolor pen. I added sparkle to the hot air balloons and clouds with my clear Wink of Stella brush pen and then added glossy accents to the hot air balloons to give them some added dimension. Lawnscaping Challenge #85 - Summer Color Combo - It's a BOY!

For the current Lawnscaping Challenge I was inspired by the colors we were required to use, of course, but also by the exciting news my husband and I found out a few days ago - we're expecting a little boy!! So, I'm 20 weeks and halfway through my first pregnancy and we just had our anatomy scan this past Thursday, which clearly showed that there's a little boy growing in there! The colors for this challenge screamed little boy to me, and I was excited to make a card to celebrate our news.

 

 

 

While I haven't been able to purchase anything yet from Lawn Fawn's May release (so many cute sets I'm itching to get my hands on - especially the robots now that I have a little boy coming into my life,) I have almost all of their sets released prior to that, many of which have yet to see ink! One of these is Quinn's Capital ABC's, believe it or not! I decided to combine those big letters with Pa-rum-pa-pum-pum, which is technically a Christmas set, but I love using it for baby cards, and also with Sopie's Sentiments and some papers from Lawn Fawn's Let's Polka line to come up with this adorable card:

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge - Anything Goes - Happy Anniversary

Yesterday, on July 4, 2014, my husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary! I made him a super cute card and mini-album full of photos of highlights from our special day.

I'm entering the card into the Paper Smooches SPARKS Anything Goes Challenge.

 

I actually used a bunch of scraps that have been sitting on my desk from previous projects to create this card. The dinos were colored with Spectrum Noir Markers and the paper is from Doodlebug Designs Stars and Stripes line from 2013.

Lawnscaping Challenge #82 - Distress Mania - Welcome Baby

So I'm FINALLY entering another Lawnscaping Challenge - YAY! (For an update as to why I've not been able to craft for the past 2 months, see this post here, you won't regret it!) I know I had a goal to enter every Lawnscaping Challenge of 2014, but sometimes life (an incredible amount of schoolwork) has to take precedence. But, I made it through and am now back entering another challenge.

My almost-7-year-old niece came over this afternoon and wanted to use my stamping supplies to create a card to send to her penpal, a girl her age who she met at our wedding in July. So, I looked up what the current Lawnscaping challenge is - Distress Mania - and we got to work.

 

 

First I'll share my niece's card, which I'm not entering into the challenge, but merely just showing off for fun. I showed her some different ways of using Distress markers with a water brush. The only thing I forgot to do was use archival ink, so we had a slight smudging issue, but we were ok with that. Here's her card...she likes to do the front, middle and back, so here's views of all sides:

 

 

Pretty cute, huh? Ok, so here's my card, which I had to mostly work on after she went home, lol. I decided to make it into a baby card to welcome a former student of mine's new baby who was born this past Friday. I love how it turned out, and the new mom wore a flower clip in her hair to the hospital just like the dino here :)

Lawnscaping Challenge #77 - Bling It! - I'm So Lucky To Have a Friend Like You

Hi everyone! I'm back with my entry into the latest Lawnscaping Challenge - Bling It!

 

 

 

I was excited about this challenge because I'm great at collecting a lot of sparkly, blingy things, but I'm not always great about actually using them! For instance, I love the recent fascination with sequins and I've collected a bunch of them - but this is the first time I'm actually using them.

I also made my first ever St. Patty's Day card! My friend and I both really love owls and I definitely wanted to use the owl on her card, as well as the sentiment "I'm lucky to have a friend like you." Then I found the hats off set and knew exactly how I wanted this card to come together. I'm in love with it! I decided to use a combination of green and gold sequins - green to mix in with the embossed clovers on the ground and a few sprinklings of gold in there as well. I know she's going to LOVE this card!

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge - Anything Goes - my wise friend

Good evening! This is just a quick post to enter a card into the current Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge - Anything Goes.

Last week I colored these owl images with my new Spectrum Noir markers, so I decided to use them for this card. This is a fairly simple card - aside from adhering the images, all I did was stamp the background with versa mark ink to give the card a little bit more interest. Here it is:

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge - Anything Goes

Hey everyone, I'm back again, this time to share an entry I made for the current Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge - Anything Goes. This challenge is awesome because you can submit anything you want using at least one Paper Smooches stamp.

 

 

I'm barely getting my entry in under the wire, so I'm gonna go ahead and link up my card real quick and then come back to add more details about my card. So, without further ado, here it is:

 

 

Ok, whew, I made it in! So, back to the card... I decided to follow in Christiana's footsteps (isn't her card gorgeous??) and made the background for my card using my twinkling H2O's. I LOVE these but definitely have not given them as much love as I could/should! I also knew that I wanted to use a mustache on my card, so I dug around and found two Paper Smooches stamp sets that come with a tiny mustache that you can add on to your image. I decided, since it won't quit snowing this winter and since I've had this set for a year and not yet used it, to ink up my Swanky Snowdudes set. I chose a few colors of the twinkling H2O's that I thought would look icy and wintry. One of the best things about the twinkling H2O's is how much they shimmer, so I knew a wintry card would be perfect.

After creating my background, I used Archival ink to stamp my images and used the same colors of twinkling H2O's to color the snowmens' accessories. About a month ago I had purchased a super sparkly sheet of corrugated cardstock, so I used a small piece of that to create a snowy ground to anchor my snowmen on. I embossed some of the snowflakes from the set with Ranger's snowflake embossing tinsel, which is a mix of white embossing powder and glitter, and the snowflakes really match the snowy ground.

You can see that my paper did warp quite a bit as it dried and it was a bit tough to adhere to my card, but I managed, and even though it curves a bit still, I just love the whole wintry vibe of the card. The picture doesn't do the card justice - it shimmers so much! Even the teal cardstock I used as a base is shimmery!

I didn't realize it (because I was busy making my card and haven't paid attention to all the other entries) until I just went to link up my card, but my card is pretty similar to Melania's, at least in our choice of putting the mustache on the same exact snowman! Oh, well, great minds think alike, right??
