Happy Saturday, everyone! I'm about to spend the better part of today getting my lecture recital proposal ready to submit for my DMA degree, but first I wanted to share a card that I made for the current Lawnscaping Challenge which involves "dusting off" some supplies we've had sitting around but not used in a while. I love this challenge!
For this card, I decided to dust off my Flutter by Lawn Fawn stamp set. I think a bunch of us have dusted off this set, and with all of the snow many of us have been dealing with, it seems we're all looking forward to seeing some flowers and butterflies! I've had this set for a while and just have not used it enough. Another set I dug out of my stash for this card was Grand Greetings - I can't remember the last time I used it!
I also "dusted off" a technique I haven't used in a while - masking! I tend to always be fussy cutting and popping up my elements for dimension, so it was really fun to create a one layer card, something I hardly ever do.
I did all the stamping first, and then I went back and used my masks to cover up my stamping so I could ink a clouded background with my Tumbled Glass distress ink (my favorite for a clear blue sky.)
Next, I decided to try out my new Spectrum Noir markers for the first time! As you can see, unlike the Copic markers, the Spectrum Noir's do create a little bleeding with the stamped images (I use the Momento Tuxedo Black ink which works perfectly with my Copics.) So after messing up a bunch of leaves, I had to be way more careful to color inside the lines of the flowers. So, that's the one big drawback I found with the Spectrum Noir's.
After coloring everything, I used a white gel pen to add dots to my butterflies and my beloved clear Wink of Stella glitter pen to add sparkle to the butterfly wings and flowers.
I am in LOVE with this card! I think it turned out so pretty!
