Good morning, friends! This morning I'd like to share a cute Halloween card that I put together last night. What's great about this card is that I took something that started out as a mistake and created something wonderful with it!
If you've been following my last few posts, you know that I've been digging through my leftovers/scraps from last year's cards to see what I can create with them. Well, I found a black cardstock base that I had attempted to white emboss and failed miserably. I'm not sure what went wrong, since I emboss all the time, it might have been that I had put the sticky embossing powder on and then forgot to add a glitter or whatever I had had planned before heat setting. Anyhow, I held onto it even though I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it.
Enter this year's chalkboard trend! Up until now, I've enjoyed this trend from afar, but when I dug this emboss-fail piece out, the chalkboard look immediately popped into my mind - it was like that little light bulb turned on and I said "Aha!" I thought my mistake resembled the chalkboard look, so I just took out my white ink pad and a dry baby wipe and smudged a little ink on it to get that messy, erased look, and voila - I had the perfect base for my critters!
Last week I spent a couple of days stamping, embossing and fussy cutting some Lawn Fawn critters onto some fun Halloween-themed Authentique paper. (I've got a ton to make cards with, so you'll be seeing lots of these!) Don't they look absolutely adorable on my card?
