Hi everyone, I hope you're enjoying what is left of the weekend - can you believe it's about to be October already?? Yikes! I've got a really big concert next Saturday and I'm actually really glad it's nearly here. (For thoise of you who are new to my blog, I'm a professional flutist who returned to school to get my DMA. I won the school's concerto competition last spring and will be performing my piece with the school orchestra this weekend!) I'm looking forward to the performance, of course, but it's one of those things that just kind of takes over everything until it's done. I've been performing this piece for a long, long time and am really looking forward to performing it with a good orchestra on Saturday, but then I'm also looking forward to moving on to the next thing. I've got another big piece that I have to learn for my lecture recital next spring that I've been putting off working on until this performance is done.
Anyway, that's not even why I'm here today - this IS a crafting blog, after all! Silly me! I'm actually here to share a second card I made for the current Paper Smooches SPARKS Picture Perfect Challenge. I did like my first entry, but it was a big step outside my comfort zone and I wanted to make something that was a bit more, well, ME! Here is the inspiration photo we were provided with:
I just wasn't really feeling the butterflies, even though they are purple (my favorite color.) They're just not realy in season anymore, you know? Plus, I didn't want to be so literal with this card; rather, I just wanted to be inspired by the photo, which is really the whole point.
My husband really wanted me to make another Halloween card and wanted it to have a witch, so I did just that! I grabbed the Paper Smooches Halloweenies stamp set and it's coordinating die set and got to work - and I must say that I like this card much, much better. I actually kept it fairly simple and made the witch the focus of the card. The black images and text are all embossed, and, as you can tell, I substituted bats for the butterflies. I guess, while you can use butterflies at any time of the year, you can't necessarily say the same for bats! I colored the witch with Copics and then gave her sparkly lipstick with stickles. I also added touches of more subtle sparkle to the stars and the witch's outfit with my Wink of Stella clear glitter pen - this pen is quickly becoming a favorite!!! Hope you enjoy my card, and have a great Sunday night! Bye :)
(I decided to share 3 pics since I couldn't get just one that captured the correct colors, sparkle and dimension!)
SUPPLIES:
Ha ha! I LOVE that you used bats instead of butterflies--very clever. The coloring is great, and the glittery lipstick is awesome. Good luck with your performance! Thanks for joining us at Paper Smooches SPARKS!
