Lawnscaping Challenge #38 - Inspiration Photo; Entry 2: Welcome Baby

 

 

For this Lawnscaping Challenge, the challenge was to use the above group of photos as inspiration for our card.

Here is the card made by this month's guest designer, Chrissie Tobas:

 

 

For my second entry to this challenge, I made a card for my friend and former student to welcome her new baby boy, Asher. I decided to focus mainly on the grassy green and the orange for my color scheme and also took inspiration from the pennants. I just love both of these new Lawn Fawn sets, Critters Down Under and Sunny Skies. This just might be my favorite out of all the cards I've made thus far. Here it is:

Lawnscaping Challenge #38 - Inspiration Photo; Entry 1: Thank You

 

For the current Lawnscaping Challenge, we were to use the above group of photos as inspiration for our cards. There is so much happiness in those photos - the carousel, the colors, the pennants, the balloons, the cake - everything. I was instantly sad that I've not yet added the Admit One stamp set to my Lawn Fawn collection, as it obviously was the perfect set to use for this challenge. I just love the inspiration card that Chrissie Tobas designed for this challenge:

 

 

For my card, I had to think outside of the carousel and balloons. I decided, instead, to use the pennants, the pink and orange colors, and the blue sky as my inspiration to create this thank you card to send to a friend. I was also able to incorporate the bow tie by including the kite with the ties on it. In the end, I think I've ended up with a very happy card:

Lawnscaping Challenge #37: Use Dimension: Congrats!

I've finally made a card to celebrate the arrival of my identical twin nieces, Adeline Quinn and Charlotte Baily, who were born on March 11th. I made it to give to my brother and sister-in-law, and also to enter into the current Lawnscaping Challenge: Use Dimension.

For my card, I had the idea to have the storks drop the babies into the mail box. The firstborn, Addie, was assigned the color pink, and Charlie was assigned the color purple, as a way of telling them apart, so I translated those colors to the baby bundles and to the postage stamps. The colors of their nursery are purple and grey, so I used those colors for the background, the postcards and the mailbox. I had to use the reverse stamping technique in order to get the stork to face both directions. The card needed a little something extra at the bottom, so I tied some grey twine around it.

I just LOVE how this card came out, but, more importantly, I am in LOVE with my twin nieces. They're absolutely precious.

I wrote out the sentiment on the inside of the card with Harold's ABC's.

I tried to capture the dimension in the photos, but I'm not sure how well it came across in the photos. The storks and the baby bundles were adhered with 3D Zots to give them dimension.

Lawnscaping Challenge #37: Use Dimension: Happy 5th Birthday Elliot!

I made this card very last-minute a few weeks ago to give to my niece, Elliot, for her 5th birthday. I've not posted it, yet, and realized that, because it had dimension to it in the balloons, it would be perfect to submit for this current Lawnscaping Challenge: Use Dimension.

 

 

The inspiration design was created by Amy Tsurura, Lawnscaping's July guest designer. I just love how she added texture to the card with the stitching, and the colors are just so happy. Check it out:

 

 

For these challenges, I generally like to stick to my Lawn Fawn products so that I am making the most of the stamps that I've collected so far, but, for the summer, anyway, the rest of my crafty supplies are locked up in a storage facility until my fiance and I find our own apartment in the fall...so what I really have access to right now is basically limited to my beloved Lawn Fawn products which I refused to put in storage!

However, I was in Michael's a few weeks ago and found this cute little elephant stamp by Cosmo Cricket for Hampton Art, and I just had to use it on this card, as elephants are my niece, Elliot's, little symbol, since she was born. I used Jenni Bowlin's Chewing Gum ink pad to stamp it in pink. I used Lawn Fawn's Bright Side 6x6 paperpack. Since I didn't have access to my balloon stamp, I freehand drew a balloon onto white cardstock, cut it out and used it as a template to make all five balloons, which I layered on top of one another and were attached with the 3D Zots. I drew the balloon strings freehand. The sentiment on the inside was created with Lawn Fawn's Jessie's ABC's stamp set. I made 5 balloons to celebrate her 5th birthday. Here is the finished card! At the time, I just took a quick picture and wasn't planning to enter it into anything, so I didn't get a view of the dimension, but I promise the balloons are lifted up and away from the card.
