Lawnscaping Challenge #36: Color Splash, Entry #2 - Thinking of You

These are the inspiration cards made for Lawnscaping Challenge #36: Color Splash. The idea is to have a neutral base and to add just a splash of color.

 

 

For my second entry, I thought I would make a card for my fiance's mom and stepdad who live in Florida. They've had awful weather for days due to tropical storm Debby. I thought it would be cute to send a card to let them know we've been thinking of them. There's been so much rain and flooding streets in their area, but they've been staying safe and as dry as possible. I thought the flamingos holding umbrellas would be cute. My fiance and I only moved from Florida to NY 3 weeks ago, so we were lucky to miss all the storms!

Lawnscaping Challenge #36: Color Splash, Entry #1 - Happy Father's Day

I was late creating my dad's Father's Day card this year - I didn't get to it until last night. It's okay, though, because the current Lawnscaping Challenge, to create a card with a splash of color, got my creative juices flowing.

My dad loves his dog, Maggie, who loves tennis balls. I knew that Lawn Fawn's Critters in the 'Burbs stamps would be perfect for making his card:

I kept everything neutral with kraft and a light grey for the clouds and the tire swing. Green was my main color with just a small splash of orange in the sun and the dog's tag.

Lawnscaping Challenge #35 - Patterned Paper - Entry No.3

Here is my third - and final - entry for the Lawnscaping Patterned Paper challenge.

My future mother-in-law's birthday was a few days ago, so I made her this birthday card from me, my fiance and the two cats. Seriously, this card is so cute!

By far, this is the most complicated card I have made to date. I used all Lawn Fawn stamps and only their Bright Side paper to make this card. The stamps I used on the front of the card: Critters in the 'Burbs, Bake Me a Cake, Bannerific, Sophie's Sentiments, Fanciful Frames, and Bon Voyage. The sentiment inside the card is from On the Mend. I used the Handmade With Love stamp on the back of the card. All stamping was done with Tuxedo Black Momento ink and I added a little bit of color with a few Copic markers.

Lawnscaping Challenge #35 - Patterned Paper - Entry No.2

Here is my second entry to Lawnscaping's Patterned Paper challenge. As I said for the first entry, I only had access to my Lawn Fawn stamps and papers for this challenge - all of my other craft materials were packed away in boxes since I just moved from Florida to New York!

Actually, although I did not end up getting to participate in the last Lawnscaping challenge (Embossing), I had wanted to and had started on a card, which resulted in the background that I ended up using for this card. To create the background, I first used one of Lawn Fawn's chevron stamps with some clear embossing ink on a blank white card. After stamping the chevron pattern, I used a Tim Holtz distress stain (I think it was milled lavender - it's still packed in a box now, so I can't check) over the entire card - the chevron pattern acted as a resist, an effect which I absolutely love. Actually, it was my first time using the emboss-resist technique.

So, I had that background to start with and I had a thank you card to make for another one of Bryce's old neighbors, who had gifted us with gift cards to IHop and Cracker Barrel to help us out on our drive up to Long Island. Because we were traveling with two cats in the car, we waited until we got up to NY to actually use the gift cards.

Anyway, I knew I wanted to use patterned paper so that I could participate in the current Lawnscaping challenge. I used a sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Many Thanks collection, LF's Petite Florals set and their Bright Side patterned paper to create a ton of flowers. I went with a purple and grey color scheme and have got to say that this is one of my favorite cards that I have made. I just love how it turned out and hope Bryce's neighbor likes it, too! I stamped with Tuxedo Black Momento ink.

Lawnscaping Challenge #35 - Patterned Paper - Entry No.1

I was so sad not to be able to participate in the last Lawnscaping Challenge for Embossing. My fiance and I were in the midst of moving to New York and, not only were all of my embossing materials already packed in boxes, but things (as you can probably imagine) were a bit hectic for a few weeks there. Happily, my fiance, two cats and I made it to Long Island and I have been able to resume crafting, just a little bit.

The first order of business was to make a couple of thank you cards for Bryce's neighbors who were kind enough to purchase for us gift cards to a few restaurants to help us out while we were traveling. The recipients of this card gifted us with gift certificates to Applebees and Olive Garden. I definitely wanted these cards to fit in the Patterned Paper Lawnscaping challenge.

The only crafting supplies I took with me in the car (as opposed to packed away in the shipping containers) were my Lawn Fawn stamps and paper. For this challenge, Lawn Fawn supplies and my Copic markers were all I had access to. The rest of my crafting materials are still packed in boxes.

I used the reverse stamping technique to create the second pig that is holding the flower to get him to face in the opposite direction. This is the first time I tried that technique. Of course, the pig (and the fence) comes from Lawn Fawn's Critters on the Farm set. The sentiment is from LF's Many Thanks set, and the paper is all Bright Side paper. I used Tuxedo Black Momento ink and kraft paper for the fence.

I really hope Bryce's old neighbors will like this card!
