Lawnscaping Challenge #33: Clean and Simple, Entry No.3: I'm Here For You

I've just finished making the final card for Lawnscaping's Clean and Simple Challenge! It's a good thing, too, since the deadline for entering is midnight tonight! Be sure to check out all of the entries at the Lawnscaping blog - all of the cards are lovely and some are absolutely stunning!

For this challenge, the idea was to go for a clean and simple look. This sounds easy enough, but is actually quite challenging to accomplish! Here is the inspiration card, designed by Jennifer Rzasa:

She did a beautiful job on it, don't you think? What's really funny is that we just figured out yesterday that Jen is actually a former viola student of my mom's! I thought she looked familiar! Such a small world!

So now, here is my third, and final, entry into this challenge:

I just love how it turned out! I don't know who I will give it to you, but that's ok - I'll save it for just the right occasion.

I used the adorable tissue box stamp from Lawn Fawn's On The Mend stamp set and paper pieced it with Lawn Fawn's Bright Side paper. The sentiment "I'm here for you" is also from On The Mend. I decided to incorporate the idea of sticking actual tissue out of the boxes, something I've seen a lot of people do! I think it looks super cute. The brown strip is just kraft cardstock and the paper I used for the blue mat is from a Core Impressions cardstock pack, the Modern Prints Collection from pinkpaislee. Although I left it plain, you can actually sand these papers over the embossed part to get a different look. I used Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black for the stamping.

Lawnscaping Challenge #33: Clean and Simple, Entry No.2: Happy Mother's Day

Now that my mom has received her Mother's Day card I can post this card here and submit my second entry to the Lawnscaping Clean and Simple Challenge! These challenges are so much fun to participate in and, since I needed to make a couple of Mother's Day cards anyway, using the challenge requirements of CAS as a guide helped to get me focused. There are lots of beautiful cards to see there. Even though I would argue that there are some entries that don't seem to be clean and simple, all of the cards are still so wonderful and provide great inspiriation. Heck, I'm not even sure that mine meet those CAS requirements! I haven't been making cards for very long, so this is all very new to me. But, I'm having a lot of fun and I know people are enjoying the handmade cards I've been making for them, so that's all that matters!

And now, here is my second entry, which is the card I made for my mom for Mother's Day:

You totally cannot tell from the photo, but I did use 3D Zots underneath the flowers and vase to give them some dimension. The flowers are from Lawn Fawn's On the Mend stamp set and I spelled out the Happy Mother's Day sentiment using Harold's ABC's. The patterned papers are from Lawn Fawn's Bright Side 6-by-6 paper pack. I paper-pieced the flowers and colored the centers with an orange Copic marker.

My mom got her card in the mail today (I was slow mailing it) and loves it!

Lawnscaping Challenge #33: Clean and Simple, Entry No.1: You're Sew Lovely

I needed to make a couple of cards for Mother's Day (one for my mom and one for my future mother-in-law), so I thought I would use the Lawnscaping Clean and Simple Challenge as my guide for these cards.

Here is the inspiration photo from the challenge to get our juices flowing:

 

I had an idea for a Mother-in-law card using Lawn Fawn's Sew Lovely stamp set and the Bright Side 6x6 paper pack. Using the challenge of Clean and Simple as my guide, here is the card I came up with:

I used Jessie's ABC's to spell out the sentiment on the inside of the card. My mother-in-law-to-be absolutely loves her card! She was excited to get her first Mother's Day card from her future daughter-in-law :)

I plan to enter my mom's card also, but it's on its way to NY now, so I'm going to wait for a few days to enter it so she can hopefully receive it first.
