I can't believe it, but I am entering my FIRST EVER crafty challenge. I spent the past few days making a couple of birthday cards for my mom, who will be 62 on Wednesday, and had so much fun playing with Kelly Marie Alvarez's Lawn Fawn stamps and papers! The first card I will wait to post here until Mom's birthday on Wednesday, but the second one, made for mom by the cats (with a little help from me) was perfect (or should I say purrfect) for this Stamp a Scene challenge. I'd like to wait to post it until it arrives for my mom to see in the mail, but the deadline for entering the challenge is Wednesday, so I need to just go ahead and post it. So mom, here is a sneak peek of the card that "Samson and Dalilah" made for your birthday :) They even signed it with their paws, how cute is that?
So first, I need to post the link to the challenge:
and also Kelly Marie's inspiration photo:
So, here is my entry for the challenge:
The kitties are Dalilah on the left and Samson on the right. The stamps used are all from Lawn Fawn's Critters in the 'Burbs stamp set and the papers from Lawn Fawn's Bright Side 6x6 paperpack. For the sky, I used Tim Holz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and for the grass I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Peeled Paint. Since I didn't have a cloud stamp, I got all creative and used the top of the tree you see here :) I was pretty proud of myself for that. I used Martha Stewart's 1-inch circle punch for the sun, but only punched part of it. This card features a lot of paper piecing, which is when you stamp onto patterned paper and then cut out the image to adhere to your card. It's a great method of using your stamps in fun ways! The brown ink throughout the card is Colorbox Espresso pigment ink.
This was my first card using Lawn Fawn stamps and I am absolutely in LOVE - I want all of them now. Of course, that will happen a little here, a little there, but let's just say that I know what's going on my birthday wish list and Christmas wish list until I've got them all, however many years that might take.
Oh yeah - and here is the inside of the card, complete with Sammy and Lilah's pawprints (heehee):
I hope "Grandma" likes her birthday card! The kitties put a lot of thought into it!
Be sure to check out the other entries at the Lawnscaping Blog - lots of great inspiration there!
